2024 RACING SEASON KICK OFF IN PHOENIX

In a blaze of exhaust and the roar of engines, Smoko Motorsports revved into action for the first weekend of the 2024 racing season. Driver Morgan “Smoko” Lee took the wheel of the team's 2020 Camaro 1SS 1LE, embarking on an epic journey from Austin, Texas, to Phoenix, Arizona, to participate in the Phoenix Arizona Solo Region's first auto cross event for the year on Sunday, followed by the first track cross event on Monday.

🏆 Sunday's Triumphs: Morgan's prowess behind the wheel shone bright on Sunday as he clinched 1st place in the fiercely competitive F Street class. The efforts also saw him secure the 15th position on PAX out of a formidable field of 146 drivers. In the time-only sessions, Morgan showcased his skill, claiming the 8th overall spot among 62 drivers and improving on his competition times by over half a second.

As the sun dipped below the horizon on Sunday night, the Smoko Motorsports team joined the Phoenix Arizona Solo region as they gathered at The Shop Beer Co. in Tempe, Arizona, for the annual awards celebration. The camaraderie was palpable, and the club reveled in the achievements of the 2023 season, and the team proudly bringing home the win for the D Street class in the 2023 Spring season.

🏎️ Monday's Track Cross Adventure: Undeterred by the previous day's triumphs and challenges, the team returned to Arizona Motorsports Park on Monday, this time for a hybrid Autocross Track event known as Track Cross. The event provided an ideal opportunity for drivers Morgan “Smoko” Lee and Doug Rowse to further acquaint themselves with the roaring power of the Camaro as they prepare for the upcoming SCCA National Time Trials in Las Vegas next month.

Despite facing stiff competition, Morgan exhibited exceptional skill, securing another podium finish in the F Street class. However, a momentary hiccup occurred when a cone tipped in front of longtime team supporter David Webb, resulting in a 2-second penalty. Morgan finished 2nd in the F Street class and claimed the 12th overall position on PAX.
