Smoko Motorsports Podiums at SCCA Las Vegas National Tour

Smoko Motorsports - SCCA Las Vegas Tour 2023

On April 2nd, 2023, Smoko Motorsports brought their A-game to the fiercely competitive 2023 SCCA Las Vegas National Tour autocross event. Hosted at the prestigious Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the event attracted top-notch drivers from across the country, ready to battle it out on the challenging autocross course.

Representing the team in the D Street class were two skilled drivers, Morgan "Smoko" Lee and Jeff "Hollywood" Williams. The class, which featured seven drivers, promised intense competition and thrilling displays of driving prowess.

At the end of day one, Hollywood found himself in a promising position, sitting in third place in the D Street class. Right behind him, Smoko held onto fourth place, demonstrating the tight competition among the skilled drivers.

As day two dawned, the drivers returned to the course with renewed determination. Hollywood showcased his consistency and determination, managing to maintain his position and securing a podium finish during the trophy ceremony. His impressive performance highlighted his skill and tenacity as an autocross competitor, earning well-deserved recognition and respect from fellow drivers and fans alike.

Meanwhile, Smoko faced tough competition on day two and, unfortunately, was unable to find the time needed to climb higher in the ranks. Despite his best efforts, he finished in fifth place, reflecting the fierce competition in the D Street class. Nevertheless, Smoko's dedication to the sport and his team remained unwavering, setting the stage for even greater achievements in the future. Jeff Williams finished in 39th place on the PAX indexing system and Morgan Lee followed close behind in 58th place out of a field of 147 competitors.

As the dust settled, the team extended their congratulations to Mark Scroggs and Garret Cogburn, who claimed the top two spots in the D Street class. The respect and camaraderie among competitors showcased the sportsmanship and spirit of autocross.

The success of Smoko Motorsports at the SCCA Las Vegas National Tour event would not have been possible without the unwavering support of their sponsors. The Shop Beer Co., a valued sponsor, provided a refreshing touch to the event, offering their Church Music IPA and Crispy Lager to everyone in the paddock during the Friday and Saturday evenings. The gesture was warmly received and helped foster a sense of community among drivers and teams.

Printing Solutions, Australian Outback Plants, and Off Track Engineering continued to be instrumental in the team's journey, offering their continued support and resources. Their contributions have been vital in Smoko Motorsports' pursuit of excellence, providing the team with the necessary tools to compete at the highest level.

Looking ahead, the team's focus turns to the Pro Solo event at Crows Landing on April 28th. With the reunion of drivers Morgan Lee and Ivan Mendoza in the drivers' seat, Smoko Motorsports is eager to build upon their experience and success from previous events.
